This was SJCBC's third trip to Tyne this year, and despite some very tough conditions, the crew proved once more that our hard work is paying off. Improvised splash guards (picture below) certainly got the crew some funny looks on the row up, but it was John's who were laughing as they pushed through the strong winds and some very choppy waters down the course.
Unfortunately due to an issue with subs and timing, SJCBC came away with Time Only. However, their time of 15:36.9 would have placed them as second fastest Durham College VIII and 28th Intermediate University VIII. Huge congratulations to our men!
With BUCS under their oars, the crew are training hard for their coming races, most importantly the Head of the River Race due to be held in April in London. These results put the team in a strong position and we are looking forward to seeing how they do in the coming weeks.
