The first race of the season for our men's first VIII turned out to be very successful for the men's first VIII, where they finished as fourth fastest Durham College VIII.
For many it was the first trip to Tyne, and with that the first time rowing on a tidal river. Despite the cold (and a couple of lost shoes thanks to the mud!) the crew rowed very well, powering down the 4.5 k course with the tide in a time of 15 minutes and 41 seconds, aided by a great coxing line.
The bar has been set high, with this VIII putting John's firmly on the map for the season ahead. We hope that today's result inspires the rest of the club and our upcoming Novices to train hard and keep up the reputation!
